Gers boss admits club undecided on whether to appeal ban
Rangers manager Walter Smith has yet to consider whether to appeal against Ally McCoist's touchline ban.
The Gers assistant has been banned for two matches for misconduct following the scuffle with Celtic boss Neil Lennon during the clash with their Old Firm rivals last week.
After a fiery Scottish Cup match at Parkhead, which saw three Rangers players sent off, McCoist and Lennon exchanged heated words and had to be separated by police on the touchline.
The sanctions mean that McCoist will be banned from the touchline when Rangers face Celtic again on 20th March.
Rangers only found out the ruling from the Scottish Football Association shortly before their Europa League tie with PSV Eindhoven, which ended in a 0-0 draw, and Smith admits the club have yet to consider their options.
Asked whether they plan to appeal, Smith said: "We don't know. We only found out before the game so we haven't had a chance to sit down and talk about it.
"Obviously we are disappointed that the thing happened, that's something that happens.
"It's a two-match ban and he will have to sit out a couple of games, basically that's it."
Madjid Bougherra and El-Hadji Diouf, who were both shown red cards against Celtic, have also been reported to the SFA's disciplinary committee for 'misconduct of a significantly serious nature'.
Smith added: "It's a concern that it happened, never mind that we have injuries or anything like that.
"We have already stated that we are a little bit disappointed by their actions so we will just have to wait and see what happens."
