Carson drafted into setup to provide cover for Wales qualifier

Goalkeeper Ben Foster has withdrawn from the England squad to face Wales and has been replaced by Scott Carson. The Birmingham City keeper has been struggling with a throat infection and he has not been declared fit enough to be involved at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday. Foster had initially been laid low with the illness on Thursday and, after failing to improve overnight, has now pulled out of the Euro 2012 qualifier. His place in the squad has been taken by West Brom shot-stopper Carson, who is likely to be third choice for the game. Joe Hart has started England's three previous Euro 2012 qualifiers and Foster had been providing the back-up on the bench. However, with Foster ruled out, Robert Green is likely to be named as the substitute keeper by England coach Fabio Capello.
