Dutch striker can envisage retiring with Bundesliga club

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar would be willing to discuss a new contract at Schalke after admitting he could finish his playing career with the Bundesliga club. Netherlands international Huntelaar joined Schalke from AC Milan in 2010 and he is under contract until the end of next season. He has scored 33 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions this season and was linked with a January move to Premier League giants Manchester United. However, while the 28-year-old will not rule out leaving Schalke, he confirmed that he is prepared to negotiate a new deal in Gelsenkirchen.

Ready to listen

"If Schalke is willing to negotiate a deal, we will sit down and discuss this," Huntelaar told BILD. "I am ready to listen to what Schalke would be prepared to offer. "It would be an option for me to retire from the game as a Schalke player. "We have a young squad and first team. To win the German Bundesliga with Schalke would be like a dream coming true. "Anyway, if there is another good club looking to offer me something, I would consider this also."
