Burnley manager Sean Dyche is confident the club will secure Premier League survival after seeing them draw 3-3 with Newcastle at St James' Park.

The Clarets battled back to equalise three times, with George Boyd's strike four minutes from time ultimately securing a point, and Dyche is upbeat over the chances of avoiding an immediate return to the Sky Bet Championship.

He said: "I have absolute, total belief in what I do, what my staff do and what the players do.

"The difference this season is purely the level, the teams you are playing, the quality of the teams you are playing, so there has to be balance to that.

My belief has been unshakeable since the first ball was kicked. It still is, it will be going forward because I believe in everything we do and I believe in the players, and they believe in themselves.

"But my belief has been unshakeable since the first ball was kicked. It still is, it will be going forward because I believe in everything we do and I believe in the players, and they believe in themselves.

"There are good signs of what we are trying to achieve this season, and we are trying to achieve it with a group who have more than just honesty.

"I am happy with the honesty and I am happy with the resilience and the energy and the physicality. But I think we have got some real quality and I think we showed that."

Burnley, who are currently second from bottom but just three points off 14th-placed Sunderland, face Tottenham in the FA Cup on Saturday before hosting fellow strugglers QPR at Turf Moor in the Premier League on January 10.

Dyche also thanked young midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah, who has completed his loan spell with Burnley and returned to parent club Chelsea.

The 20-year-old made one Premier League start and four substitute appearances during his time with the Clarets.

Dyche said: "Nathaniel will go back to Chelsea and we thank him for his efforts in his time with us.

“We hope he has developed here, albeit not on the pitch as much as he would have liked. He has, however, been an active part of the group and has been a credit to himself. We wish him well as he looks to further progress his career.”
