'Technophobe' Harry Redknapp launches Twitter account

Harry Redknapp has delved into the world of social media he previously claimed to know little about by creating a Twitter account.
The former QPR manager, who left Loftus Road in February, has often painted himself as someone who has no great interest in embracing technology.
Last October, when asked if he knew social media wasn’t ‘his thing’, the former Southampton and Portsmouth boss replied: “Definitely not.”
Yet he opened his account @Redknapp on Monday morning which was quickly verified by saying: “Let’s see what this is all about then.”
Within an hour, Redknapp had amassed over 28,000 followers and followed 20 other accounts himself including those belonging to Rio Ferdinand, Harry Kane, Glenn Hoddle and Andrew Cole.
The appearance of the 68-year-old’s page comes as a surprise given comments he has made in the past.
In 2012, Redknapp told police investigating his finances he did not know how to work a computer, had never sent a text message and he didn’t even know what an email was.
He also claimed to have no idea what Twitter was last year after then QPR defender Ferdinand was given a three-game ban by the FA for misconduct on the platform.
Redknapp is the latest in a growing group of football managers who use Twitter which already includes Carlo Ancelotti, Garry Monk, Ronald Koeman and Barcelona boss Luis Enrique.
