Skysports.com counts down ten 6-0 wins from Premier League history after having four already this season

The scoreline 6-0 may be more readily associated with tennis but this season we have already witnessed it four times in the Premier League. Chelsea have achieved the feat twice, first cruising to victory over West Brom on the opening day before overcoming Wigan at the DW Stadium. Arsenal also welcomed newly-promoted Blackpool to the top flight with a drubbing at the weekend, while the biggest surprise of the lot came on Sunday as Newcastle swept aside Aston Villa. A 6-0 result should be rare but there have been several other instances in the Premier League over the years. Skysports.com counts down ten of the best.
Liverpool 6 Manchester City 0 - 1995/6
Having just been comfortably beaten by Manchester City, it may not be much consolation to Liverpool supporters to recall their demolition job at Anfield 15 years ago as Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler scored two apiece. Coming just three days after a 4-0 success against the same opponents in the League Cup, the Reds inflicted more pain on a City side that would drop out of the Premier League at the end of the season. Rush and Jamie Redknapp did the early damage with goals inside the opening five minutes, while Neil Ruddock also got his name on the scoresheet.
Barnsley 0 Chelsea 6 - 1997/8
An omen of things to come, Ruud Gullit's Blues ran riot away from home in August 1997 as future manager Gianluca Vialli netted four goals in a stunning display against opponents who would be relegated at the end of the season. Dan Petrescu broke the deadlock and Gus Poyet made it 2-0 before Vialli got in on the act. The Tykes would have their revenge the next time the sides met at Oakwell almost 11 years later, with a shock 1-0 win in the FA Cup.
Everton 6 West Ham 0 - 1998/99
Everton had endured a disappointing campaign heading into the penultimate weekend of the season in May but upset the form book to thump the high-flying Hammers at Goodison Park, with Kevin Campbell notching a hat-trick to inspire the victory. Campbell had only recently joined on loan but turned out to be a prolific goalscorer in the closing stages of the season and earned a permanent switch in the summer. Also enjoying themselves against West Ham were Michael Ball, who slotted home a penalty, Don Hutchison and Francis Jeffers.
Manchester United 6 Bradford 0 - 2000/01
A daunting trip to Old Trafford for the Bantams ended in predictable disappointment as Quinton Fortune and Teddy Sheringham shared four goals in a clash between teams that ended top and bottom that season. Bradford had defied the odds to stay up the previous year but could not contain a rampant United as Andy Cole opened the scoring and David Beckham completed the rout.
West Brom 0 Liverpool 6 - 2003/4
West Brom found themselves on the receiving end at The Hawthorns as Michael Owen hit the target an incredible four times to pass the 100-goal barrier in the Premier League. The Baggies' relegation had already been confirmed by the time Liverpool came to town on 26th April and Owen was having one of those days when he was virtually unstoppable as he brought up his century at the age of 23. Milan Baros also weighed in with a couple as West Brom capitulated.
Reading 6 West Ham 0 - 2006/7
It is easy to forget that Reading were once a decent force in the top flight, capable of producing dazzling displays such as this one on New Year's Day 2007 when Kevin Doyle bagged a brace. Brynjar Gunnarsson, Stephen Hunt and Leroy Lita piled the misery on as well and Anton Ferdinand even helped out with an own goal. A strong-looking West Ham side included Yossi Benayoun and Bobby Zamora, while Carlos Tevez was an unused substitute, but the Royals were far too strong.
Manchester United 6 Newcastle 0 - 2007/8
The Red Devils smashed 11 goals past Newcastle over two encounters in 2007/8 and were particularly ruthless at home as Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez wreaked havoc. The Magpies had actually resisted admirably in the first half and reached the interval with the score still goalless, but the floodgates opened after Ronaldo had broken the deadlock with a free-kick. The Portuguese maestro went on to register his first hat-trick for United, with Tevez grabbing two and Rio Ferdinand the other.
Chelsea 6 Manchester City 0 - 2007/8
Manchester City's strong start to the season under Sven Goran Eriksson began to unravel at Stamford Bridge as Didier Drogba struck twice for a Chelsea side just getting used to life without Jose Mourinho. The Blues, playing with verve and vigour, took the lead through Michael Essien early on and Drogba soon doubled their advantage. The Ivorian struck again after the interval before Joe Cole, Salomon Kalou and even an out-of-sorts Andriy Shevchenko joined the party.
Derby 0 Aston Villa 6 - 2007/8
Coming towards the end of a campaign that saw them relegated with just 11 points, a Derby side short of confidence was torn apart by Villa at Pride Park, with six different goalscorers. A Roy Carroll mistake allowed Ashley Young to make it 1-0 and John Carew added a second before Stiliyan Petrov provided the highlight of the match with a spectacular 45-yard strike following a poor goalkeeping clearance. Gareth Barry, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Marlon Harewood scored in the second half to condemn Derby to a second 6-0 defeat of the season after an earlier loss to Liverpool.
Manchester City 6 Portsmouth 0 - 2008/9
Manchester City turned in one of their most stylish performances of recent years to dismantle Harry Redknapp's visitors at Eastlands, with Robinho for once at his exhilarating best. It was another Brazilian, Jo, who set City on their way to three points before Richard Dunne scrambled home a second. Robinho and Shaun Wright-Phillips also netted following some gorgeous flowing football, before substitutes Ched Evans and Gelson Fernandes added late gloss to the scoreline.
