Real Madrid have extended their lead in Spain while Udinese capitalised on Juventus' misfortune to move to the top in Italy. Bayern maintained their five-point advantage in Germany's top flight while big-spending PSG could only draw with Bordeaux in Ligue 1. Leaders Paris St Germain failed to extend their lead at the top of the table after being held to a 1-1 draw at Bordeaux. Also on Sunday Montpellier were held by St Etienne while Lyon squandered the chance to close on the leading pack after slipping to a 2-1 defeat away to Sochaux.
