Barca win, Udinese leapfrog Juve, Bayern succeed

Barcelona beat Real Madrid in El Clasico, Udinese leapfrogged Juventus in Italy while Bayern Munich have won successive games in the Bundesliga. Paris St Germain have moved level with Montpellier in France, Eredivisie leaders AZ Alkmaar ended their two-game run without a victory. Rangers and Celtic both won in Scotland, Benfica and Porto lead the way in Portugal while AEK Athens and Basel top the Greek and Swiss leagues respectively.
Primera Liga
Barcelona moved level on points with Real Madrid at the top of the Liga table with a 3-1 success over their arch-rivals at Santiago Bernabeu. Karim Benzema gave the home side a dream start with the game's opening goal inside 30 seconds. Alexis Sanchez equalised before half-time and it was all Barca after the break with goals from Xavi and Cesc Fabregas settling the contest. Valencia missed the chance to close the gap on Real Madrid following a late 2-1 loss at lowly Real Betis while Levante returned to winning ways with a 1-0 success over Sevilla to strengthen their top-four prospects. A fourth successive defeat leaves Real Zaragoza bottom of the table, although Sporting Gijon moved level on points with fourth-from-bottom Villarreal by winning 3-1 at Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
Serie A
Udinese leapfrogged Juventus at the top of the Serie A table after getting the better of Chievo 2-1. Antonio Di Natale and Dusan Basta were both on target for Francesco Guidolin's men. The Old Lady can reclaim their place at the summit of Italy's top flight on Monday night with victory over a Roma side who have lost four of their last six league matches. AC Milan lost points in the title race after being held to a 2-2 draw at Bologna. Alessandro Diamanti's 73rd minute goal bagged a point after Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted from the penalty spot minutes earlier.
Bundesliga
Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich made it back-to-back successes in domestic action on Sunday following a 2-1 triumph over Stuttgart. Mario Gomez was the match-winner for the visitors with a double. Second-place Borussia Dortmund are now three points behind Bayern after being held to a 1-1 draw by lowly Kaiserslautern. Schalke are level on points with Dortmund after winning 2-1 at Hertha Berlin on Friday. FC Augsburg have moved off the foot of the table following a second win in three games, this time Borussia Monchengladbach were their surprise victims.
Ligue 1
Paris St Germain are level on points with Montpellier at the top of the Ligue 1 table after beating Sochaux while the leaders were upset by Valenciennes 1-0. Kevin Gameiro scored the only goal of the game in PSG's success while Foued Kadir earned Valenciennes a surprise three-point haul on Saturday. Lille are two points behind the leading pack after 2-0 win over Dijon made it three wins on the bounce while Ajaccio continue to sit bottom despite a 2-2 draw at Nancy.
Eredivisie
Leaders AZ Alkmaar secured their first win in December by putting relegation-threatened De Graafschap to the sword 4-0. Substitute Charlison Benschop scored their fourth in the 78th minute. PSV remain four points behind AZ after getting the better of NAC on home soil. Dries Mertens' first-half goal decided the destination of the three points. FC Twente, Ajax and Heerenveen make up third to fifth respectively in the table after wins over NEC Nijmegen, RKC Waalwijk and Excelsior.
SPL
The top of the SPL table has a familiar look about it following weekend wins for the Old Firm. Rangers edged out Hibernian at Easter Road while Celtic beat Hearts on home soil. Nikica Jelavic scored both goals for leaders Rangers while Victor Wanyama netted the only goal of the game for Neil Lennon's troops at Parkhead. Aberdeen's 2-2 home draw with St Mirren saw Craig Brown's men move off the foot of the table, although they are level on 14 points with Hibs and Dunfermline.
Best of the rest
AEK Athens continue to lead the way in Greece after a 2-1 win at home to Giannia. Olympiakos remain second after battering Kerkyra FC. Benfica and FC Porto are the joint-leaders in Portugal after weekend wins. Benfica won 1-0 at Maritimo while Porto came from behind to beat Beira Mar. Swiss leaders Basel came down to earth after their win over Manchester United by being held to a 1-1 draw by Neuchatel Xamax. They are seven points clear of Lucerne.
