Ronaldo hits hat-trick; 10-man Bayern push on; AZ suffer late loss

Real Madrid hit Sevilla for six to go clear in the Primera Liga, Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich won again and Juventus went back to the top of Serie A. PSV knocked five past Heerenveen to move to within a point of the Eredivisie summit, while the top three all drew in France. The Old Firm both won in Scotland, as did joint Portuguese leaders Benfica and Porto, while Olympiakos won twice in the week to go four points clear in Greece.
Primera Liga
With Barcelona away winning the FIFA Club World Cup, Real Madrid pulled three points clear of their arch-rivals by thumping Sevilla 6-2. Cristiano Ronaldo was the star with a hat-trick in the victory, which saw Real reduced to 10 men just before the interval when Pepe received his marching orders for a second bookable offence. Roberto Soldado scored a brace as Valencia beat Malaga to cement their third spot in the table, while down at the bottom Real Zaragoza slumped to their fifth successive defeat.
Serie A
Juventus are two points clear in Serie A after beating Novara 2-0 thanks to goals from Simone Pepe and Fabio Quagliarella. Antonio Nocerino and Zlatan Ibrahimovic notched second half goals as AC Milan beat Siena to sit in second, while previous leaders Udinese are now third after being held to a 2-2 draw at fourth-placed Lazio. Inter Milan continue their climb up the table - with Claudio Ranieri's men now into fifth - after two 1-0 away wins in the week, first dispatching Genoa on Tuesday before beating Cesena on Sunday.
Bundesliga
Bayern Munich made it three Bundesliga wins on the bounce against Cologne on Friday to head into the winter break clear at the summit. Despite having Franck Ribery sent-off for a second bookable offence on 33 minutes, the German giants bounced back with second half goals from Mario Gomez, substitute David Alaba and Toni Kroos. Second-placed Borussia Dortmund remain three points behind Bayern after thrashing Freiburg 4-1, while veteran striker Raul notched a hat-trick as third-placed Schalke hammered Werder Bremen 5-0.
Ligue 1
Montpellier and Paris St Germain remain locked at the top of Ligue 1 after recording draws this week. First Montpellier were held to a 1-1 draw with Toulouse on Saturday, but PSG could not capitalise the following day after being held to a goalless stalemate by third-placed Lille, who remain two points behind. Fourth-placed Lyon are now just two points adrift of the summit after goals from Jimmy Briand and Lisandro Lopez sunk Evian.
Eredivisie
A last-gasp Milano Koenders effort condemned leaders AZ Alkmaar to a 2-1 defeat at NAC Breda. Second-placed PSV are now just a point away after a 5-1 win at Heerenveen, with Ola Toivonen and Georgino Wijnaldum both notching braces. Arnaud Sutchuin Djoum also scored a brace as Roda JC Kerk knocked seven past bottom side Excelsior, who remain two points adrift of second-from-bottom VVV Venlo, who lost 2-0 at 10-man NEC.
SPL
Kyle Lafferty saved league leaders Rangers' blushes against bottom side Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Lafferty climbed off the bench to score the winner with seven minutes to play after fellow substitute Andrew Shinnie had equalised Carlos Bocanegra's opener. Second-half goals from Gary Hooper and Ki Sung-Yeung saw Neil Lennon's Celtic win 2-0 at Saint Johnstone to remain four points away.
Best of the rest
Olympiakos went four points clear in Greece - although second-placed Panathinaikos have two games in hand - after beating Levadiakos 4-0 on Wednesday and Giannina 2-0 on Sunday. Benfica and FC Porto continue to be locked at the head of Portugal's top flight after Benfica thrashed struggling Rio Ave 5-1 on Friday and Porto saw-off Maritimo 2-0 the day after. Joint leaders Galatasaray and Fenerbahce both won to remain five points clear in Turkey.
