Arsenal striker Robin van Persie the strong favourite from six-man PFA Player of the Year shortlist.
Robin van Persie and Sergio Aguero favourites for PFA awards
Sky Bet have installed Robin van Persie as the
1/4 favourite in their PFA Player of the Year betting market after the Dutchman was named on the six-man shortlist.
The Arsenal captain has scored an impressive 27 league goals and contributed 11 assists to his side's resurgent form this season, leading their climb back up to third following a difficult start to the campaign.
David Silva and Wayne Rooney are considered Van Persie's main competition for the award at
6s respectively, with the former contributing six goals and 15 assists to Manchester City's title tilt, while the latter has netted 24 times for league leaders Manchester United.
Sergio Aguero (
9/1), Scott Parker (
25/1) and Joe Hart (
33/1) are the other candidates put forward for the award, of which the winner will be announced on Sunday, 22 April.
23-year-old Aguero is also nominated for the Young PFA Player of the Year award and is the
5/4 favourite thanks to netting 21 goals in his first season in the Premier League.
That list also consists of last season's PFA Player of the Year Gareth Bale, Danny Welbeck (both
5/2), Kyle Walker (
8/1), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (
12/1) and Daniel Sturridge (
16/1).
Sky Bet's Football trader Joe Petyt said: "Van Persie's goals have been absolutely imperative in Arsenal getting themselves back up to third after a transitional summer, while he's given us a fair few headaches with punters ploughing in to him in our first scorer markets all season.
"Aguero has also been a class act and defied any concerns over his ability to adapt to the English game, and it was no coincidence that City's recent slump coincided with his absence."
