L2 Team of the Week

Sky Sports selects the best of the bunch from the latest round of League Two fixtures.

Team of the week

Scott P Brown - Cheltenham
Goalkeeper Brown was one of just three keepers in the division - along with Artur Krysiak of Exeter and Fleetwood's Scott Davies - who kept a clean sheet on Saturday. Amid poor weather conditions at Aldershot, Brown had to scoop away a header from Peter Vincenti to ensure the first half ended goalless. Shaun Harrad then netted the winner with 17 minutes remaining to fire the visitors up to third in the table.
Dean Howell - Fleetwood
Howell wrote his name into Fleetwood folklore as his goal secured their 1-0 win at Burton. The full-back struck the Cod Army's first-ever Football League goal direct from a free-kick two minutes after half-time to seal a precious three points and Town's first victory in the Football League.
Rory McArdle - Bradford
The Bantams' summer signing from Aberdeen notched his first goal for the club when turning the ball in after 37 minutes in the 5-1 thrashing of Wimbledon. The 25-year-old was playing as a right-back for the Bantams but can also operate in the centre of defence and his flexibility and assurance on the ball will prove invaluable as Phil Parkinson plots a promotion push.
Andrew Davies - Bradford
McArdle's fellow Bradford defender Andrew Davies was also on the scoresheet in the thrashing of the Wombles. Davies hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons - and received a lengthy ban - in the club's infamous brawl with Crawley last season but Parkinson still signed the classy centre-back from Stoke in the summer. Athletic and with a good touch, he has kept his discipline so far this season to help fire the Bantams into the early play-off spots.
John McCombe - Port Vale
The Valiants bounced back from their 2-0 midweek loss at Accrington with a hard-fought 3-1 win at previously-unbeaten Morecambe to climb up to fifth in the table. The game was heading for a draw with two minutes remaining but McCombe notched a decisive second when he nipped in front of his marker to head a Sam Morsy corner into the net, with Tom Pope completing the scoring a minute later.
Daniel Parslow -York City
Parslow takes his position to the right of midfield after scoring York's first goal in their 3-1 win at Barnet on Sunday - their first success back in the Football League. When a corner was not cleared, Parslow fizzed a powerful low effort into the bottom corner in the seventh minute and then put in a fine midfield display as the Minstermen went onto win.
Sam Morsy - Port Vale
Morsy earns his place in the centre of midfield after his goal and assist in the 3-1 win over Morecambe. Morsy set the Valiants on their way with a goal with less than a minute on the clock, slotting home from the edge of the box after Louis Dodds' early shot rebounded into his path. He then provided the assist for McCombe's decisive second.
Billy Bodin - Torquay
The left winger scored in his side's 4-2 victory over Rochdale to notch their first win of the league campaign. Andrew Tutte had smashed Dale ahead from a seventh minute corner but within five minutes United restored parity following a sweeping move down the left, superbly finished by Bodin.
Deane Smalley - Oxford
Smalley takes his place on the right of a three-prolonged attack after scoring a first-half brace in the league leaders' 2-1 win over Plymouth. First he controlled Tom Craddock's cross from the left and fired past keeper Jake Cole in the 20th minute before being released on the right and drilling a shot just inside the near post.
Rene Howe - Torquay
Howe also notched a quickfire brace for Torquay in their 4-2 win over Rochdale. The forward scored the first of his double with an hour gone, firing home after Dale keeper Josh Lillis could only parry Kevin Nicholson's thumping strike. Howe then went solo eight minutes later to make it 4-1, clipping the ball over Lillis, after powering through the middle of the Dale half from the halfway line.
Alan Gow - Exeter City
Gow completes the League Two Team of the Week after scoring a brace in the Grecians' 3-0 win over Accrington Stanley. Gow fired low from the edge of the penalty area into the bottom left-hand corner in the 14th minute after Stanley failed to clear their lines. And, after 54 minutes, he tricked his way through on the left, got past the home defence and scored from a tight angle to seal a second successive win.
