Wednesday Premier League Blog

Chelsea dominate Sky Sports Fantasy Football's highest-scoring team of the season - but there's no place for N'Golo Kante.

Kante was named in the PFA's Team of the Year and also took the Player of the Year prize but he misses out on a spot in the Fantasy Football XI.

The below line-up - in a traditional 4-4-2 - features the players who scored the most points across the course of the campaign, with assists credited by Opta and Sky Sports Man of the Match awards rewarded. Here's who made the cut...

GOALKEEPER

Thibaut Courtois (£7.4m) - 161 points

The Belgian scored just three more points than Tottenham's Hugo Lloris. The 16 clean sheets which earned him the Golden Glove meant he bagged 161 points this season. Being an ever-present in the Chelsea side also helped him along the way, as 38 starts helped boost his haul.

DEFENCE

Cesar Azpilicueta (£9.6m) - 203 points

The Spaniard is the highest-scoring defender in Sky Sports Fantasy Football this season. He played in all 38 games this season, which added 76 points to his score, but his 16 clean sheets were the real point-earners. He only received four yellow cards, limiting the amount of points he lost.

Gary Cahill (£9.4m) - 179 points

The new Chelsea captain was involved in 16 clean sheets, which provided him with plenty of points, but he also bagged a joint Premier League-high of six goals for a defender. The England man earned four passing bonuses to boot.

Dejan Lovren (£8.6m) - 148 points

Despite playing fewer games than Jan Vertonghen and having fewer clean sheets, Lovren scored the same amount of points as the Belgian. The Liverpool defender's two goals helped his tally and his lower value means he takes his place in our team of the season.

Marcos Alonso (£7.9m) - 179 points

Fifteen clean sheets are the main reason the Spaniard racked up so many points, but he also matched Cahill's tally of six goals this season, including two fine free-kicks.

MIDFIELD

Christian Eriksen (£10.6m) - 220 points

A big factor behind the Dane's high score was his ability to score a huge number of points in singular game weeks. In gameweek 17 he scored 19 points and in the double gameweek 18 he racked up 28 points, with 18 assists contributing to his tally.

Dele Alli (£10.8m) - 241 points

The Tottenham and England man has racked up 241 points, 108 of those coming from 18 goals this season. He also contributed nine assists.

Phillipe Coutinho (£10.7m) - 231 points

Despite missing a chunk of the season the Brazilian still makes it into this team thanks to a string of match-winning performances for the Reds. He racked up eight Sky Sports Man of the Match gongs, bringing in 40 points, while he also scored 12 and assisted seven more.

Eden Hazard (£11.2m) - 238 points

The Chelsea man has had a resurgence from last season, with 16 goals representing his best Premier League return. He added five assists and nine MOTM performances along the way.

FORWARDS

Harry Kane (£12.8m) - 282 points

Kane hit 29 goals on the way to a huge points haul, while he also provided a career-high tally of seven assists this season and seven MOTM awards.

Alexis Sanchez (£12.4m) - 285 points

It might be a surprise for some that Sanchez and not the Premier League's top goalscorer is the highest scorer in Sky Sports Fantasy Football this season, but 24 goals and 10 assists see the South American take top spot from his north London rival.
