Midfielder keen to follow up Premier League and Euro 2012 wins
Fresh from his success at Euro 2012, David Silva has targeted further European glory with Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Spain's thumping 4-0 win over Italy in the European Championship final capped a fine season for Silva, who was also instrumental in City's Premier League title victory.
The only disappointment for the former Valencia man was City's failure in Europe last season, with Roberto Mancini's men crashing out of the Champions League at the group stage and then the last 16 of the Europa League.
Silva is determined to set that particular record straight next season - though only after a hard earned rest.
"I want to have my vacation because it has been a long, hard season for me," said Silva.
"But once I go back to City, I know I will be fully refreshed because I want to win more trophies with them.
Win titles
"The owners of the club have spent a lot of money bringing good players to the club. We have already started to win titles, including the Premier League.
"Now I hope to show we have the quality to do something in the Champions League."
Despite being part of Spain's 2010 World Cup-winning squad, Silva only made it onto the pitch for 66 minutes in South Africa.
That is in sharp contrast to his contribution in Poland and Ukraine, where he started every game.
Reflecting on the past few weeks - including the tail end of City's dramatic title winning campaign - Silva admits he can scarcely believe what he has achieved.
"I never thought anything like this would be possible," he added.
Try your hardest
"Of course, every time you go out onto the pitch you try your hardest, then at the end you find out where you have got to.
"But you never really think about the possibility of winning both.
"I didn't play much at the World Cup. This time I did a lot more.
"I played every game, so I am very happy with my contribution. My goal helped the team towards an easy win.
"It has been a great few weeks for me and it feels superb."
