Brown Ideye has already sought assurances over his West Bromwich Albion future, just four months after joining for £10million.

Alan Irvine made the Nigeria international the club’s record signing when putting a deal in place with Dynamo Kiev.

He has, however, seen the 26-year-old struggle to offer a return on that sizeable investment.

Ideye has mustered just one goal in six Premier League outings, leading to him slipping down the attacking pecking order.

Having failed to make the bench for West Brom’s last two fixtures, Ideye has held discussions with Irvine regarding his future and whether he should be looking to move on.

He said in the Express and Star: “I had a chat with him after the game against Leicester.

“I said, ‘What is going on? I have to know if things are not going well or if we have too many players. You have to speak to my agent or speak to me so that we know what to do as fast as possible’.

The Premier League is fast and quick and the league is full of pace. I have that so I don’t see myself being slow to adapt to the system.

“It’s unfortunate that I had two weeks out and then when I came back the team was already settled and playing well.

“I don’t think the gaffer has a problem with that. I respect him a lot and I will respect his decision.

“I am training with my head up and we still have a long season to go so, in the end, I think things will work out well.

“The Premier League is fast and quick and the league is full of pace. I have that so I don’t see myself being slow to adapt to the system.”

Ideye is also convinced that he can play alongside England new boy Saido Berahino, with Victor Anichebe being favoured at present.

He added: “It’s unfortunate he has made more time than me.

“Both of us play the same role but we can play together, I don’t have a problem with that.

“We have pace, we’re strong and we can cause problems to defences. That is what every coach wants.”
