Liverpool supporters often remember John Arne Riise for his unstoppable free-kick against Manchester United.

Riise rifled the ball into the top corner with such ferocity that it nearly broke the crossbar as Fabien Barthez was left stranded.

Michael Owen turned out to be the match winner as Liverpool romped to a 3-1 victory at Anfield but there was only one thing everyone was talking about after the game.

In his post-match interview Owen lauded Riise’s strike: "It was unbelievable - I've never seen a shot hit so hard and so accurately."

The Norwegian full-back ended up becoming a cult hero on Merseyside as his cultured left boot regularly helped his side secure crucial Premier League wins.
