Iain Dowie told Sky Sports News that Loftus Road could be the key to QPR's survival hopes.
'Loftus Road atmosphere can propel R's to safety'
Iain Dowie believes QPR have finally struck upon the right recipe for Premier League survival - with Loftus Road central to their aspirations.
Mark Hughes' men beat Swansea 3-0 on Wednesday night to move up to 16th in the Premier League.
The Hoops are now two points above the drop zone with five matches remaining, although 18th-placed Bolton have a game in hand.
After three wins in their last five matches - all at home - former boss Dowie says QPR now have the momentum and the tactics to retain their top-flight status.
"I did sense last night that Swansea would find it difficult in a very tight ground," he told
Sky Sports News.
"All round it was a very disciplined performance, they were getting in people's faces and had some terrific strikes on goal. I sense there is a bit of momentum there (with QPR).
Compactness
"Mark has found a system that works for him. It was a comfortable victory and you don't say that too often for teams against Swansea.
"Mark has found a way at Loftus Road to press sides. Don't forget they deserved to beat Arsenal. That was not a fluke. So he has found a way to pressurise sides and use the compactness of the ground to get results.
"At Loftus Road the atmosphere is fantastic. When you light that touch paper you get a real feeling that the crowd is with you."
While he believes "stranded" Wolves will go down after their defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday, Dowie says the fight for survival remains open - though he has a suspicion Roberto Martinez's Wigan could survive.
"Wigan have hit a decent patch of form," he said. "They have some decent home games coming up.
"It is so difficult to pick even now because a result for Blackburn at Swansea at the weekend will totally change everything so I think there will be twists and turns yet."
