YORKE LEFT OUT IN THE COLD
The Trinidad and Tobago international infuriated Ferguson by returning late after international duty recently, but he returned to the starting line-up for the Champions League tie in Kiev in midweek.
His display brought rare criticism from the manager, with Ferguson stating: "On the night, it proved that Dwight needed another game to get back to the top of his performance - though he did a decent job."
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was given the nod for a place on the bench, with Teddy Sheringham and Andy Cole handing a starting role against the Londoners.
Ferguson claims the decision was purely for tactical reasons, telling Sky Sports: "It`s disappointing. Dwight did alright on Tuesday but it was a tough game and I think Ole Gunnar is freshest, and he can play on the left wing.
"I`m just protecting any eventualities - I have worries over Denis Irwin and Gary Neville so I need Phil Neville and Wes Brown on the bench."
Yorke reportedly exited the stadium before the big kick-off and there is growing concern that he could be facing a similar situation to that of his great pal Mark Bosnich, who has been relegated to third choice keeper at the club.
