Scholes still troubled by vision
Paul Scholes fears he may never rid himself of his eye problem.
Paul Scholes fears he may never rid himself of the eye problem which has decimated his season. The midfield star has not featured for Manchester United since being sent for a scan following the draw with Birmingham City in December.
Scholes has been plagued by double vision and claims that, four months on from first noticing the problem, he is still struggling to rid himself of the complaint.
Specialists up and down the country have been baffled by Scholes' condition and the 31-year-old feels he may have to live with the condition for the remainder of his career.
"It has not completely gone yet," Scholes, who has resumed light training with The Red Devils, told Century FM.
"It has been four months now, so I am not sure it will be completely normal, but I should be okay to start playing again.
"I don't really know why it happened. Apparently, it is something quite rare in people my age.
"Unfortunately, it has happened to me and I just have to get on with it."
Scholes is eager to make himself available for selection again next season.
"My aim now is for next season," he said. "As long as I am ready for then, I will be happy.
"I was a bit worried, but it has been more frustrating than anything else because, while, as a footballer, you expect to pull muscles, this was something completely different.
"I never really thought I had played my last game or anything like that. I was just focused on getting it right and the sooner I could get back, the better.
"I have three years left on my contract and I want to stay at United for that length of time."
