New Man Utd keeper Tomasz Kuszczak is aiming to learn from Edwin van der Sar.

Tomasz Kuszczak is aiming to learn from Edwin van der Sar after sealing his move to Manchester United.

The Polish goalkeeper has joined The Red Devils from West Bromwich Albion, initially on loan for a season and then permanently for the next three years.

He has been brought in by Sir Alex Ferguson to provide the back-up to van der Sar, with Kuszczak happy to take tips from the Dutch veteran.

"Edwin van der Sar is one of the best goalkeepers in the world," Kuszczak told Sky Sports News.

"I will try to do my best. I will train really good and take something from him.

"I can learn some new things as I'm still a young goalkeeper.

"I try always to take something from someone and, in this case, I will do the same.

"I will try to push Edwin van der Sar and do my best and play good when I get the chance and train really well."

Kuszczak will also get the opportunity to play in Europe and the 24-year-old is relishing the challenge of UEFA Champions League football.

He added: "This is a great challenge. I never played before in the Champions League.

"I will have a chance to play. It is a great thing for every footballer, it is great when you can change to a club like Manchester United."

United have spent the past few weeks trying to conclude a deal for Kuszczak, with the Premiership club allowing Luke Steele and Paul McShane to move to The Hawthorns.

Kuszczak had been desperate to head to Old Trafford and thanked West Brom boss Bryan Robson for his understanding.

"At West Brom, I was focused in pre-season and I waited," he continued. "There was nothing I could do really.

"I hoped the transfer would be finished and now it has.

"I spoke with the manager Bryan Robson. He understood me really well.

"I spoke with him and told him I wanted to leave and I wanted to play for Manchester United.

"This is the best club in the world and everyone wants to play for this club, and me too."
