Cristiano Ronaldo has echoed Sir Alex Ferguson views by insisting Manchester United can win the Champions League this season.
Ferguson has already gone on record and said his current star-studded squad can go all the way in this season's competition.
Ronaldo was on target in Wednesday night's 4-0 victory of Dynamo Kiev which secured United a place in the knockout stages with two group matches still to play.
And the Portuguese winger has no doubt United are better placed this season than last, when they reached the semi-finals before bowing out to eventual winners Milan.
Opportunity
He said: "Manchester United have the opportunity to win [the Champions League] every season.
"You work for that but this season there is a better chance than last season.
"We have more options. We have new players, we have great quality and when you have quality you have the opportunity to score goals - which is what the players try to do.
"We have better players and they want to win the Champions League and the Premier League. You have to believe."
Ronaldo's goal against the Ukrainians at Old Trafford was his eighth in 10 matches but he says that much of the club's current excellent run of form is down to the blossoming partnerhip between Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney.
Terrorised
Rooney has nine goals in the campaign and the Argentina striker five as they have terrorised their opponents.
He added: "The last five or six weeks they have played fantastically.
"They know each other, score goals and do a fantastic job."
Meanwhile, United defender Danny Simpson wants another taste of the big time after making his first Champions League start in the 4-0 win over Kiev.
The 20-year-old full-back joined centre-half Gerard Pique in the starting line-up, while Jonny Evans came on as a late substitute as Ferguson rested some of his big guns.
Confidence
Simpson said: "It is everything to get a start. It gives you that confidence that he (Ferguson) trusts you.
"When he (Ferguson) said 'You and Gerard are playing at the back with Nemanja (Vidic) and Patrice (Evra),' it was a hell of a compliment.
"He didn't even have to say anything to me - just, 'Go out there and do what you normally do.'
Gutted
"I was a bit gutted I didn't score but the young lads who played, me and Gerard at the back, we kept a clean sheet and we played some good stuff.
"After that he might feel, now that we are through, why not give me another game against better teams.
"For the likes of myself, Gerard and Jonny Evans it is looking good for the future."
