Frenchman aware Rooney will require 'great attention'
Bayern Munich playmaker Franck Ribery believes that Wayne Rooney is 'carrying' Manchester United this season.
The two superstars will meet on Tuesday night when United take on Bayern in Germany in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final.
United are second only to Barcelona as favourites to win the competition, but Ribery thinks that Sir Alex Ferguson's team are a one-man side.
Rooney has scored 33 goals in all competitions this season and Bayern appear to believe that the England international is United's only threat.
Ribery, who, along with Arjen Robben, is 'carrying the banner' for Bayern in the opinion of Ferguson, said in
The Sun: "Rooney is carrying the United team this season. We must pay great attention to him.
"He's having a tremendous season and I am happy for him. He's a player I like a lot.
"He's hungry. He gives everything for his team. He will tackle, he defends, he attacks, he scores goals. He's full of confidence."
Ribery added: "The whole world sees us losing but I think we have a great chance. We have a team good enough to believe in."
