United reserve boss won't make Tigers return

Manchester United's reserve team assistant manager Warren Joyce has insisted he is not interested in returning to manage Hull City. Joyce is rumoured to be among the contenders to succeed Ian Dowie at the KC Stadium following the Tigers' relegation from the Premier League last season after a successful stint in his role at Old Trafford for the past two seasons. With chairman Adam Pearson looking to bring in a cheaper option with the club in serious debt and under the threat of administration, the 45-year-old appears to fit the bill. Joyce is already a hero at the club, after keeping the team in the Football League back in 1999, turning their form around to make them safe after being rooted to the bottom of the fourth tier when he took over.

Sooner the better

However, despite his close ties with the Tigers, Joyce insists he is happy with his role at United but wants the East Yorkshire club's future sorted sooner rather than later. "The quicker Hull appoint a manager, the better. I don't want speculation linking me to the job," Joyce said in the Daily Express. "Hull City mean a lot to me but I am grateful to Manchester United for the chance they've given me. "One of my faults as a manager was I couldn't argue with directors but I don't have that problem now."
