Keeper wants to succeed Van der Sar as first-choice keeper
Manchester United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak hopes this season he can further his claim as Edwin van der Sar's successor.
The 39-year-old Van der Sar is currently manager Sir Alex Ferguson's first-choice shot-stopper but his contract will expire at the end of the 2010/11 campaign.
Kuszczak made just eight Premier League starts last term, but is hopeful of making a significant impact this time around.
The 28-year-old said: "I hope it will be a big season for me. This will be my fifth with the club and I hope to play even more games.
"My challenge is simple - after Edwin finishes I want to be number one at Manchester United.
"It's not easy to sit on the bench - I have many ambitions and I want to keep progressing as a player.
"Manchester United is a great club and I believe it's a club I can play at for many years."
