Ferguson confident Mexican will prove a success
Javier Hernandez insists he was not disappointed that he failed to mark his Premier League debut for Manchester United with a goal.
The Mexico striker was a second-half substitute at Old Trafford on Monday night as Sir Alex Ferguson's side recorded a 3-0 victory over Newcastle in their season-opener.
Hernandez did not get on the scoresheet, as Dimitar Berbatov, Darren Fletcher and Ryan Giggs did the damage, but the 22-year-old was not too disheartened.
After being introduced to the Premier League in the 63rd minute, Hernandez told United's
official website that he 'enjoyed the game'.
He added: "I understand the most important thing is the team. It doesn't matter who scores. It was an excellent team performance."
Ferguson believes that the youngster may have suffered from stage-fright, but is confident the former Guadalajara star will score goals in England.
"I thought he was a little over-anxious," said the United manager. "He was maybe a little nervous in front of the home crowd, but you can see the qualities he has.
"His understanding of space is very, very good - he'll get us goals."
