Winger hoping to add to goal tally at Anfield
Nani has revealed that he has been asked to take a leading role in Manchester United's title run-in.
The Portuguese winger has indicated that he will look to lead by example on the pitch, starting with his side's trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday.
Despite looking like comfortable leaders at the beginning of the year, United have seen their advantage at the top of the table steadily eroded following losses to Wolves and Chelsea.
Now with just a four-point cushion, the 24-year-old believes he can help the Red Devils cross the line in first place come May.
"I am under orders to be the leader of this team and I've accepted the challenge," Nani told
The Sun.
"I'm enjoying the best time of my sporting career. I'm scoring goals, creating chances and I'm in my best form since I arrived at United in 2007.
"So far I've been able to help my team a lot - but it's what I do from now until the end of the season that really counts.
"It will not be easy to finish top. But we are well in the race.
"The defeat at Stamford Bridge was unjust but it was only a blip in a positive season."
