Reported Manchester United target Raphael Varane admits he has yet to decide on his future at Lens.
The 18-year-old defender is still studying for his French baccalaureat but has been making waves across Europe despite his side's lowly league position.
Lens sit second from bottom in Ligue 1, a worrying nine points from safety with five matches remaining in the French season.
Despite the prospect of dropping down a division, Varane insists he is yet to decide on his next move.
The French Under 21 international told
L'Equipe: "I have no preference between going abroad, staying in Ligue 1 or staying here. There's been contact between certain clubs and Lens. Manchester United are among them.
"I know that I'm being followed but, for the time being, I've made no decision. I've not even discussed this with the president (Gervais Martel) yet.
"[Ligue 2] is a league in which you learn things and it could allow me to gain playing time.
"What's more, lots of players from France's Under 21 team are first-choice players there and are picking up experience."
Local link-up
In addition to United, another top European club thought to be in line for the youngster's signature are high-flying Lille.
The Ligue 1 leaders appear intent on bringing Varane back to his home-town club in the summer.
"I'm from Lille, born in Lille, but I was trained at Lens and my heart is there," he added.
"I understand that there has already been contact between the two clubs, but I don't know anything more concrete.
"It's one of the offers, but I don't think it's a priority for me."
