United icon believes there is still only one club in Manchester

David Beckham believes that Manchester City will always be playing catch-up to Manchester United despite the vast wealth at their disposal. City look set to spend big again this summer, with Argentina star Sergio Aguero the next on their hit-list as they look to usurp bitter rivals United to the Premier League title. Beckham, who rose through the ranks at Old Trafford to become an icon at the club, accepted City were now closer than ever to challenging his old employers, but still felt they would never be able to become a greater team. "They're bringing good players in, they've got strong people with a lot of money behind them as a club, so they're going to improve," he said. "They've got great players in the team, but they are never going to be Man United, I have always said that. "They might be a threat against teams this season and seasons to come, but Manchester United have got the history and silverware over the last 20 years. "I'm a Man United fan, I'm always going to say that, there's only one team in Manchester but Man City, I'm sure, will be a team to look at going forward."

Tevez

The former England captain, who will face City with current club LA Galaxy in a friendly on Sunday, also reflected on the current saga surrounding Carlos Tevez, who is set to be heading for the exit door from Eastlands. "I haven't been reading too much about it, but Tevez is such a great player and was strong for them last season," he added. "Obviously if they do lose him it will be disappointing for the fans and the rest of the team. But they've got a lot behind them now as an organisation and a club. "They are going to be able to afford to bring world class players in, so if they continue to do that I'm sure their squad and team will be strengthened. "But you need a lot of experience in the Premier League so we will see what happens."
