Cannavaro and Vieira feature in star-studded testimonial squad
World Cup winners Fabio Cannavaro and Patrick Vieira have been named in the New York Cosmos squad for Paul Scholes' testimonial.
Scholes, 36, decided to hang up his boots this summer after enjoying a glittering career in the Manchester United midfield.
Cosmos, who have named Scholes' former United team-mate Eric Cantona as their director of soccer, had already agreed to become the first American team to play at Old Trafford for Scholes' send-off on August 5.
And the recently-reformed franchise have now named an 18-man squad for the game, which features a mix of high-profile names and academy prospects, along with former US internationals Brad Friedel and Brian McBride.
Besides Cantona, Scholes will also renew acquaintances with ex-United team-mates Nicky Butt and Gary Neville, with the latter having retired in February before facing Juventus in his testimonial in May.
Cosmos will also feature Scholes' former Premier League opponents Sol Campbell, Robbie Keane and Wayne Bridge, along with Blackburn's ex-Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado.
United are not expected to field many first-team regulars as they face neighbours Man City in the Community Shield at Wembley two days later.
