Manchester United forward insists Red Devils are in it to win it
Nani insists Manchester United are taking the Europa League seriously after moving closer to the last 16 of the tournament on Thursday night.
The Red Devils entered the competition at the round of 32 stage after making a surprise exit from the UEFA Champions League.
Doubts had surfaced over whether United, Champions League finalists in three of the last four seasons, would give much precedence to the less prestigious tournament.
But Sir Alex Ferguson's men beat Ajax 2-0 in Amsterdam on Thursday to get their campaign off to a strong start and Nani insists they are targeting the trophy.
"This is an important competition and we have to enjoy it," he said.
"Of course, the Champions League is the most important trophy for everyone. It is the biggest trophy in Europe.
"But now we are here, we just think about this competition. The club has never won the trophy. Now we will try to do this."
Strong
Portuguese forward Nani has been pleased to see United prove their critics wrong after last year's Champions League exit prompted talk of an Old Trafford collapse.
Ferguson's side remain firmly in contention to defend their Premier League title long after traditional top four rivals Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have fallen away.
"After we lost in the Champions League, a lot of people thought we would lose more games and see other teams win the trophies," added Nani.
"But we are strong and we are fighting in every game to continue to give our supporters what they want; titles. That is what we want as well."
