Coll set for spell with West Brom

West Bromwich Albion are set to check on highly-rated Irish goalkeeper Joe Coll, who opted to quit Manchester United earlier this summer. Coll moved to England in 2010 when he opted to join United on a three-year deal from Glenea United. But with a year left on his deal, Coll parted company with United after deciding against becoming a professional at Old Trafford. Coll made his decision because of the amount of goalkeepers at United and he is now looking to push on elsewhere. And Sky Sports understands West Brom are leading the chase and he is set to join them for training. "I had a frustrating season at United's academy with the lack of opportunities so spoke to the management there and decided to consider my options," said Coll. "To improve as a goalkeeper you have to be playing to learn and I wouldn't mind if I was playing for Glenea United or Manchester United. "I decided not to sign as a pro as when you're a pro you're always a pro. Clubs that might have been interested in me could've been put off if I was a pro and that played a part in my decision. I thought the best thing to do was make myself a free agent."
