Transfer news: Jurgen Klopp firm over Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels

MATS HUMMELS: Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra have gone, so United need a leader at the back. The 25-year-old is a star, and could move for the right price.

Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has reiterated that his new captain Mats Hummels will be staying with the club and not joining Manchester United.

United have been strongly linked with the 25-year-old Germany centre-back, and the speculation ramped up following Thomas Vermaelen's decision to join Barcelona.

But having confirmed Hummels would be succeeding Sebastian Kehl as Dortmund's new skipper, Klopp insisted that Hummels would not be moving.

"He is going nowhere," said the Dortmund chief.

"He is staying with us."

Hummels initally joined Dortmund from Bayern Munich on loan in January 2008, with the deal made permanent a little over 12 months later.

He won back-to-back Bundesliga titles with the Westphalia club in 2011 and 2012, and was named in FIFA's World Cup All-Star team after helping Germany to victory in Brazil last month.
