Chelsea supporter Clive O'Connell has been sacked from his job as a corporate lawyer for calling Liverpool fans "scouse scum" in an online video.
O'Connell, now formerly of Goldberg Segalla, embarked on an angry defence of under-fire manager Jose Mourinho in an interview with a sports YouTube channel, outside Stamford Bridge after the Blues' 3-1 defeat by Liverpool last month.
Goldberg Segalla's managing partner Rick Cohen branded O'Connell's comments as "offensive" while announcing the lawyer's dismissal via an online video of his own, despite an apology.
"The people who join our company must be better humans than they are lawyers," Cohen said.
"Our core values require that anyone affiliated with the firm demonstrate respect for the clients, the courts, their colleagues and their community.
"Clive O'Connell's comments are entirely inconsistent with our ethos. His words are offensive, plain and simple. We are extremely proud of the respectful and giving culture that we worked hard to build.
"For these reasons, we have terminated our partnership with Mr O'Connell, effective immediately."
O'Connell told the London Evening Standard: "I was very disappointed in the aftermath of Saturday's game. I let my emotions get the better of me.
"I clearly regret this and any offence that I may have caused by my hot-headed and regrettable reaction, which was inappropriate whether or not caught on camera."
