De Lucas reaches Blues accord
Chelsea have settled out-of-court with former player Enrique De Lucas.
Chelsea have reached an out-of-court settlement with former player Enrique De Lucas.The Spaniard was suing for breach of contract after Chelsea sent him back to Alaves in the summer of 2003.
He had originally moved to Stamford Bridge from Espanyol the summer previously, but a row soon broke out between The Blues and Alaves who claimed they had agreed a deal to sign him.
In the end he only spent one season in West London but claims Chelsea were at fault for ending his stay.
He launched an action seeking around £2.5 million in unpaid wages and other expenses and The Premiership outfit have now decided to back down to his demands.
The terms of the settlement have not, and will not be revealed as part of the agreement between the two sides.
De Lucas, 27, is still at Alaves and will be playing in the Spanish top-flight next season.
He has been joined at the Basque outfit by Claude Gnakpa and Madhi Racen who have joined from Racing Santander and Valence in France respectively.
