Mourinho pleased after Pompey

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was pleased with the way his side coped with Portsmouth.

The Premiership champions sealed a 2-0 victory at Fratton Park thanks to a goal in each half from Hernan Crespo and Frank Lampard.

"We were quite comfortable in the end," said Mourinho.

"Portsmouth's players were aggressive but not too aggressive and our players did well to cope.

"Joe Cole played a good game and I only took him off before the end because he has four bookings and will be suspended after the next one.

"Portsmouth had a very difficult time with Joe because he played fantastic. He deserves to come out of the game as a hero and the people did not recognise the work he did.

"It was a clear penalty and he didn't deserve the reaction he got because he is a very fair player.

"I think we fought very well. The team were very intelligent in the second half the way we controlled the game and we waited for the right time to kill the game off."

Crespo limped off injured just after scoring his goal, but Mourinho is unsure about how bad the problem is.

"It could be his back, his ribs, his leg, anything. We are not sure yet," he said.

"We have to wait, it was a strong knee in his back. We don't know if it's muscular or something in that region."
