Milan play down double swoop
Milan have played down talk they could re-sign Andrei Shevchenko or land Ronaldinho.
Milan have strenuously played down rumours they could re-sign Andrei Shevchenko or land Ronaldinho. The Ukraine international ace has been consistently linked with a return to Italy following a slow start to life in the Premiership.
However, chief officer Adriano Galliani has now stated there is no chance of Shevchenko making a surprise San Siro return.
Galliani believes Ronaldinho's hefty release clause would make it impossible for Milan to do a deal and feels their squad will be strong enough once their injured stars return.
"Sheva's return to Milan is impossible and unimaginable," said Galliani.
"Ronaldinho? It's not possible for a series of reasons. He has an incredible release clause.
"The first thing Milan needs is for our injured players to come back fit.
"We don't need mass signings, but maybe we need someone on defence."
Meanwhile, Galliani has reaffirmed the club's backing of former Real Betis striker Ricardo Oliveira.
The Brazilian has come under fire for his meagre goals return, although Milan are keen to support their investment.
"He hasn't had his last chance," he continued. "We want him to grow and be the big player he was in Spain.
"He's an important investment which we believe in. He will continue playing with Milan this season and beyond."
