Robben 'on way' to Real
Real Madrid are reportedly closing in on a deal for Chelsea's Arjen Robben.
Real Madrid are closing in on a deal for Chelsea's Arjen Robben, according to reports in the Spanish media.Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon dismissed speculation linking the Dutch winger with Real last week, insisting Robben was 'very happy' at Stamford Bridge.
However, Real president Ramon Calderon has always admired Robben and the Spanish press understands he may finally get his man.
Sports daily AS claims Real struck an agreement with Robben's father and agent over the weekend and are only waiting for Chelsea's acceptance.
'Green light for Robben,' AS proclaimed, quoting Calderon as saying 'we need a director of the orchestra'.
AS says Jose Mourinho is ready to part with Robben and is looking to replace him with Lyon midfielder Florent Malouda.
The newspaper also reports that Real will see off competition from Barcelona and Internazionale to sign Roma defender Cristian Chivu.
Chivu's agent Victor Becali is quoted as saying: "Who wouldn't want to play for Real Madrid? Of course Chivu does."
