Keeper determined to return quickly
Petr Cech is itching to get back into action as the Chelsea goalkeeper awaits a solution for his latest injury.
The Chelsea No.1 suffered a nasty facial injury in training on Sunday as he looked to return to the team after an ankle problem.
Cech required surgery on his latest injury and is hoping he will be able to play again within a fortnight.
Reports that he may need to wear a protective mask have been dismissed by his agent and Cech is merely waiting for a suitable solution which will enable him to return to the Chelsea side.
Feeling better
"As soon as we can get the solution, hopefully there will be a chance for me to play," Cech told
Chelsea TV.
"It looks much better, it feels much better and it is not that swollen. The recovery is going well at the moment.
"There are still plenty of games to play and I have been missing games for a long time and I can't wait to be back."
Cech is maintaining his general fitness, but admits he can not play a full part until the surgeon has identified a means of protecting the injury.
He added: "I had been in my first training session with the squad and I was really looking forward to the game on Tuesday [against Fenerbahce] and this happened. But football is a contact sport and unfortunately this can happen.
"I can still train. The problem is I cannot afford any contact, so I can run, I can do some stuff in the gym, I am doing that now and I am waiting for the solution from the surgeon to get me back on the field."
