Blues ace keen to bag the goals to secure crown

Didier Drogba is looking to score the goals that will help Chelsea claim the Premier League title this season. The Ivory Coast superstar has been in blistering form this season and has plundered 11 league goals in just 14 starts. Drogba is hoping to finish as the Premier League's leading marksman, but insists that would count for nothing unless Carlo Ancelotti's side finish in top spot. Chelsea currently hold a two-point advantage over rivals Manchester United, however, he does not believe Liverpool are out of the running despite being a further 10 points adrift. Red striker Fernando Torres insists the Merseysiders have not been good enough this season and that their title challenge in over, something Drogba disputes.

"If I finish top scorer this season, great. But what really matters is that we end up winning the Premier League as a result of my goals," he told Four Four Two. "I score goals to help the team. My aim is to win trophies. "Liverpool can get back into it because we haven't played enough games to rule them out." Drogba is currently one goal ahead of Torres in the Premier League scoring charts and he has revealed the pair are always competing against one another. Torres finished ahead of Drogba in the scoring standings last season, mainly due to the fact that Ivory Coast international was restricted to just 15 league starts for Chelsea. However, Drogba insists the rivalry is friendly, adding: "I'd say it's more of a great challenge than rivalry because we push each other to keep improving."
Ghana check
Meanwhile, the Ghana FA have confirmed they may send their own medical staff to check on midfielder Michael Essien's hamstring injury. Essien limped out of Chelsea's midweek draw with APOEL Nicosia and is expected to be out of action for around a month, an injury that makes him a doubt for next month's African Cup of Nations. "Our doctors are in contact with Chelsea and we will wait for the advice of our doctors before making a decision," he told the Daily Star. "We will make that decision based on professional advice. We don't know yet whether we will want Essien to come with us two weeks before the tournament starts. "If the recommendations from our doctors say we should fly someone over, we will do that."
