Chelsea youngster up for challenge
Daniel Sturridge is ready to prove Chelsea do not need any new forward signings in January.
Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that Chelsea will not be signing any new forwards in January, despite the fact both Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou will be at the African Cup of Nations.
Ancelotti is ready to throw Sturridge, a summer capture from Manchester City, into his starting line-up.
And Sturridge insists he is ready, saying: "I'm very confident in my own abilities and, given the opportunity, I can prove to everyone I am a worthy signing for Chelsea.
"Hopefully in years to come I can be playing regularly at the club and be a very big player in football.
"Chelsea have been winning trophies for years.
"They have been in the Champions League, they won the FA Cup last season and they have been in the top four for I don't know how long. That will improve me as a player.
"The likes of John Terry, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka will push me on to become a better player."
