Blues captain given time off by Carlo Ancelotti
Chelsea have confirmed that John Terry will not play in Saturday's FA Cup clash with Cardiff City.
The 29-year-old has remained at the heart of the Blues' defence despite facing allegations about his private life and subsequently being stripped of the England captaincy.
But assistant manager Ray Wilkins revealed that Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has now given Terry a short leave of absence.
"John has been given a few days leave by Carlo and he will not play on Saturday," Wilkins told
Sky Sports.
"He will come back and prepare for our game against Wolves on the 20th.
"They just had a little chat, John and Carlo, and decided that would be the best for all concerned."
