Midfielder insists he will make Black Stars comeback
Michael Essien insists that he will make a comeback for Ghana once he is completely ready.
The 27-year-old Chelsea midfielder played no part for the Black Stars in this summer's World Cup because of a knee injury and he also missed his side's opening African Nations Cup qualifier against Swaziland last month.
Essien had agreed with former coach Milovan Rajevac that he would only return when ready but Rajevac has now left his post.
It remains to be seen when the energetic midfielder makes his international comeback, but he insists it will happen.
"I spoke to the manager and he told me was going to give me a break to get my fitness back on track," Essien said.
"It is unfortunate that he left, and we shall see who comes in, but I will go back."
Essien has made 10 appearances for Premier League champions Chelsea this season and looks to have returned to his impressive form of old.
With Aston Villa next up for the champions after the international break, he added: "I think my passing is getting better, what I need to work on is my goal scoring.
"When you have the ball you have to be calm and you have to look for the space before you receive the ball.
"I try to do that and I am getting my passes right. It is always difficult to go to Villa Park, they make it very difficult.
"But we think about ourselves and how to go out there and get three points. The manager (Carlo Ancelotti) has told us to play the ball very quickly as soon as we have it and that's what we try to do."
