But Chelsea captain is ready to take advantage of rivals' mistakes
John Terry insists that a weaker squad will not prevent Chelsea from pouncing on the mistakes of their Premier League title rivals.
Ahead of Monday's London derby at Arsenal, the defending champions have failed to sample a victory in any competition in one month.
The dip in form has coincided with the injury-enforced absences of Terry, Lampard and Michael Essien, and the former admits Chelsea's lack of squad depth is an issue.
But the Blues captain is adamant that a strong team spirit will see the club through a difficult passage of the season.
Young squad
"We've missed some key players at key times and it is a case of keeping everyone fit now over the Christmas period, where we have two games in three days," Terry told Chelsea's
official website.
"In the past, we had a big squad and could rotate and put other players in. We don't have that now, we have quite a young squad and it's a time for everyone to stay together like we always will.
"Once we've turned that corner, we can move on from there and wait for other teams to slip up, which they will do."
Terry added: "Now we have a tougher game away at Arsenal, which could prove to be very difficult, but we're just one game from moving on."
