Blues skipper hoping star striker can lead charge for Euro glory
John Terry believes Fernando Torres could be the final piece in Chelsea's UEFA Champions League jigsaw.
Europe's top prize continues to elude the Blues, with a 2008 final appearance against Manchester United as close as they have come.
Owner Roman Abramovic has made no secret of his desire to land the crown, with considerable investment made in an effort to conquer the continent.
The 2010/11 campaign could be the one that sees their long wait come to an end, with the Blues squad brimming with world class talent.
Spanish striker Torres falls into that category, with Chelsea hoping he can start to repay their record-breaking £50million outlay by firing them to European glory.
On the chances of that happening, club captain Terry said: "I think he could be the key.
"For us, away from the Premier League a little bit and out of other competitions, we can very much focus on this. That's the priority, as well as the league but we know that is going to be tough.
"This is our main focus and with Fernando added to the squad as well, that could be the key for us."
Confidence
As mentioned by Terry, Chelsea have seen their domestic dreams dwindle of late.
Their grasp on the Premier League title is slipping, while they are already out of the Carling Cup and FA Cup.
A disappointing showing this season has seen pressure mount on coach Carlo Ancelotti, but Terry insists the Italian tactician retains the complete backing of his playing staff.
He said: "He is a great manager. I don't know why I am answering the question, really, because there is no speculation.
"The players are 100 per cent behind the manager and he has got full confidence in us.
"That will remain the case and we believe that with this manager and these players we can win this competition."
