Blues veteran happy seeing club turn to youth over the summer

Chelsea's Frank Lampard believes Andre Villas-Boas will not hesitate in throwing new signings Romelu Lukaku and Oriol Romeu into the mix. The Blues have turned to youth in the transfer market this summer after landing the likes of Lukaku and Romeu, who are aged just 18 and 19 respectively. Chelsea have also spent big on winger Juan Mata, who is just 23, although the former Valencia man was part of the Spain squad that won the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Although the club have sought to bring down the average age of the squad over the summer, Lampard knows their Portuguese boss will be more than happy giving youth a chance.

Experience

"You can't buy experience," explained Lampard. "We are introducing that youth in the signings we've made and with some of the players we have here already. "I know for a fact the manager won't be scared to throw them in and play them in important games because there is a lot of trust in the players. "Age is something people throw in when you have a bad game or a bad result and it's an easy answer. The answer will be seen at the end of the season."
