Chelsea defender Sam Hutchinson has signed a new deal at the club 16 months after announcing his retirement.
Hutchinson, who came through Blues' academy, hung up his playing boots in the summer of 2010 due to a knee injury, but he returned to the club in the summer.
The 22-year-old, who has made seven appearances for the club's reserves this season, has done enough to win an 18-month contract at Stamford Bridge having proved his fitness.
Hutchinson is delighted to be back playing and is happy to have a long-term deal with the west Londoners.

"It is great to be back and I am looking forward to the future. I take it week by week and it is a slow process. I am still not out of rehabilitation but I am playing 90-minute games and feeling really fit.
"I have progressed from a month of three days training and then a day off to four days training and then a day off, so everything is going really well. It is important now to stick to the plan and listen to the doctors and progress from there."
