Spain chief not ruling out Chelsea striker from finals

Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque will give misfiring striker Fernando Torres until the last minute to prove he deserves to go to Euro 2012. The Chelsea forward was dropped for the recent friendly meeting with Venezuela after an alarming dip in form in front of goal. However, Del Bosque is refusing to rule the former Liverpool star out his plans for this summer's finals in Poland and Ukraine. "I will wait until the last minute to decide about and Torres," said Del Bosque. "Torres must recapture his goal instinct during the next few months. "I watched Chelsea's FA Cup win over Birmingham and he worked hard. "I have confidence in El Nino, but need to wait before a final decision."

Lacking confidence

Meanwhile, former Chelsea hero Gianfranco Zola believes the only problem with Torres is a lack of confidence. The forward passed the 24-hour mark without scoring for club and country by drawing another blank in the midweek FA Cup replay win over Birmingham. "It's a matter of confidence, obviously," said Zola. "To understand exactly what the problem is, you have to be close to him, you have to know him very well - what kind of character he is, how he thinks. "Only a person who is close to him can understand that. "From my point of view, he needs to be a little bit more confident and that's all."
