Chelsea interim boss speaks highly of goal-shy striker
Chelsea's interim boss Roberto Di Matteo has thrown his support behind goal-shy striker Fernando Torres.
The Spaniard has failed to score a goal since bagging a brace against Genk in the Champions League last October.
But he was a regular starter under Andre Villas-Boas despite his lack of goals and Di Matteo has hinted that Torres will stay firmly in his plans.
He played 90 minutes in the FA Cup replay against Birmingham on Tuesday night as the Blues clinched a 2-0 win to reach the quarter-finals.
Torres is likely to play against Stoke in the Premier League on Saturday and Di Matteo insists that he deserves his place in the team.
He said: "He's a tremendous player, a fantastic guy too. A team player who we value very much.
"He plays hard and tries hard; he had a great game on Tuesday and the only thing missing was a goal, but I don't really care about that. As long as the team win.
"It will come (for him). I'm sure you've had some bad moments in your life when things didn't go the way you wanted. It's part of life. He's fine."
