Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp certainly had an interesting analogy to describe the increased spending from Premier League clubs this summer.
There has been a surge of high spending ahead of the new season, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United all splashing the cash in a bid to improve their squads.
Liverpool have also spent in the transfer market, bringing former Chelsea duo Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke to Anfield, with Hull defender Andrew Robertson set to become their latest recruit.
But when asked about rising transfer fees, a jovial Klopp suggested they were not the only thing going up in price…
"Things are getting more expensive. When I was a kid you could buy butter for 20 cent, that's long ago," Klopp said.
"With butter it's a little bit different, that's not a big surprise. There's a lot of butter out there."
