Atletico close in on Hakan Yakin
HAKAN YAKIN could be set for a move to Atletico Madrid, after the Spanish club agreed terms for the player.
The Swiss international rose to prominence in the Champions League when his displays for FC Basel against Celtic and Liverpool showed his quality.
Liverpool were strongly linked to the player at the time, and Celtic, Fulham and Parma have also all be named as suitors to the playmaker.
However, agent Ertan Irizik believes that Atletico will wrap up a deal for the player this week.
"We have already agreed the terms of a contract for Hakan with Atletico Madrid," said Ertan.
"I expect that they will contact FC Basel tomorrow in order to finalise arrangements for his transfer to Spain.
"Celtic are interested," confirmed the agent. "But the situation with them has not changed since that contact was made.
"Atletico made the first move."
