Bolton Wanderers target El Hadji Diouf has revealed he rejected a move to Malaga to move to The Reebok Stadium. The Liverpool misfit is set to seal a loan move to Bolton in the next 48 hours after terms were agreed over the switch.
Diouf has been told he is not in new Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez's plans and that he could leave.
The 23-year-old ace admitted he would have loved a move to Spain and Malaga, but was swayed by Bolton's ambitions.
"I would have loved to have played in Spain, but I have seen that Malaga has not promised me everything what I had hoped after speaking to them," said Diouf.
"Bolton, in that regard, have been more ambitious."
Bolton boss Sam Allardyce believes he can help the Senegal star show the form that helped him become African Footballer of the Year twice.
"A change of club would benefit him because his future appears to be no longer with Liverpool," said Allardyce.
"Not getting a squad number means every intention has been shown by them that he is no longer wanted.
"So to go and resurrect your career at 23 is a very important thing to do and it's very important to pick the right club."
